Reel Kids:
School of Trout
streamers 201 camp
A three day advanced summer camp for 12 local kids ages 9-13 to further their knowledge of fly fishing and conservation
Camp OBJECTIVE:
Deepen participants' understanding of fly fishing through advanced instruction, hands-on experience, and a commitment to conservation. Campers will enhance their skills in knot tying, fly tying, and casting techniques, while building confidence on the water.
A cornerstone of this program will be a conservation project in partnership with Silver Creek Preserve, where campers will actively contribute to preserving and protecting local waterways.
By the end of camp, each participant will possess the knowledge and tools to pursue fly fishing independently, as well as a deeper appreciation for environmental stewardship and their role in sustaining healthy aquatic ecosystems.
To ensure the best experience, campers should have a solid foundation in fly fishing. This includes having their own rod, reel, line, and net, as well as being comfortable with a basic overhead cast.

FAQs
-
Registration is open to 5B Anglers members who hold a family membership.
You will need to fill out the kids camp registration during the registration window of March 15-31. In the registration, you will be required to upload a 1 minute video of your camper discussing why they want to attend and what they hope to learn.
-
Please visit your members only site to upgrade your individual membership to a family membership for only $15
-
Our daily camp menu is set in advance. If your child is unable to eat something on the menu, they will need to bring a sack lunch and/or snacks from home with them.
-
We will reach out to the parent on file to notify them and ask how they would like us to proceed.
We will also have a medical volunteer staffed every day and we carry an umbrella insurance policy.
-
Our home base on day 1 will be the Silver Creek Preserve Visitors Center, day 2 will take place at Lions Park, and day 3 will be spent on one of our local rivers with drop-off and pick-up still occurring at Lions Park.
-
Our application is pretty standard (name, phone number, address, allergies, medications, tc.) but does also require you to submit a video of your child explaining why they want to attend and what they hope to learn. You also need to have a 5B Anglers family membership - you can sign up for your membership here.
-
The application fee is non-refundable.
-
You will need to fill out an individual registration for each child, and each registration will require a $25 application fee. (Example: 3 kids means 3 applications and a $75 application fee.)
-
We encourage you to prepare everything in advance so all you need to do is hit submit when registration opens. However, if camps fill up before you secure a spot, don’t worry—we’ll have a backup list for interested campers. The backup signup list will be posted after all spots are filled, providing another chance to join if a registrant becomes unable to attend.
